TMAX 560 / Tech MAX (2020-2024): Yamaha's Flagship Sport Scooter, Updated to the 562cc Euro 5 Engine

The TMAX 560 arrived for 2020 as the seventh-generation TMAX, replacing the 530, with a new 562cc engine, new bodywork and Euro 5 compliance. Yamaha rebuilt the engine around new pistons, conrods, camshafts and crankcases, and gave it new intake and exhaust systems. The aluminium beam frame carried over, but firmer damping gave it a sportier feel in corners. The Tech MAX is the luxury version. It adds heated grips, a heated seat, an electronically adjustable windscreen and cruise control, with gold-finish forks. 2020 colours were Tech Kamo and Sword Grey.

Power comes from the 562cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, with DOHC and four valves per cylinder. It has a 70mm x 73mm bore and stroke and a 10.9:1 compression ratio, fed by fuel injection. It makes a claimed 47.6 PS (about 46.9 hp) at 7,500 rpm and 55.7 Nm (41 lb-ft) of torque at 5,250 rpm. The transmission is a belt-driven automatic with a centrifugal clutch.

For 2022 the TMAX had a major refresh, with sharper styling, a more compact front end and a 7-inch colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity, while keeping the 562cc engine and sport-scooter chassis. The Tech MAX received the new design too, and the 2023 and 2024 bikes ran essentially unchanged from it. Because the bodywork, dash, lighting and electronics differ between the 2020-2021 and 2022-onward bikes, check body-panel and instrument parts against the model year.

Confirmed figures list an 800mm seat height and a weight of about 220 kg (485 lbs) for the standard 560, with ABS standard. Yamaha gave the bike a two-year warranty with no mileage limit in Europe.
