Ténéré 700 (2023-2026): Yamaha Finally Gets Ride-By-Wire and Traction Control, After a Two-Year Wait
Cycle News' own review confirms the platform's pattern here: "after two years with no significant updates to the Tenere 700 from 2021 through 2023, Yamaha introduced a few updates to the 2024 model" — a new five-inch TFT dash, LED turn signals, and a three-setting ABS system, plus a wire harness update enabling an accessory up-only quickshifter. Then, per that same review, "we were surprised to see that Yamaha made another round of significant updates for the 2025 model year" just one year later.
Power still comes from the 689cc liquid-cooled CP2 parallel-twin, retaining its stacked six-speed transmission, but Cycle News' own 2025 coverage confirms a genuine hardware change: a shorter intake duct improving torque and power delivery in the low-to-mid rpm range. That same coverage confirms the platform finally gained Yamaha's Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) ride-by-wire system for 2025 — switchable Sport and Explorer throttle maps, plus selectable on/off traction control, both genuinely new to this generation.
Adventure Rider's own coverage confirms real suspension upgrades arrived alongside: a new fully-adjustable USD fork with 8.3 inches of travel and 9.4 inches of ground clearance on the standard bike, a lowered variant with reduced travel and an 860mm seat height, and a redesigned rear shock with progressive linkage and a remote preload adjuster. Cycle News' own 2025 review confirms a new 6.3-inch vertical TFT display with Street and Explorer theme options and smartphone connectivity via Y-Connect, plus a new quad-LED headlight, wider footpegs, and a flatter seat.
Bennetts' own review confirms Yamaha rationalized the confusing lineup for 2025: the Extreme and Explore trim names disappeared, replaced by a simple standard Ténéré, a low-seat version, and the range-topping Ténéré 700 Rally with fully-adjustable Kayaba suspension offering 9 inches of front travel and a 910mm seat height. Cycle News' own confirmed weight and pricing figures list 459 lbs ready-to-ride and $10,999 MSRP for the 2025 standard model.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2023-2026 Ténéré 700 running the way it was built to.
