MT-07 (2025): "Its Most Significant Revision to Date"

Motorcycle.com's own review doesn't dance around the scale of this update: "the 2025 model year isn't a mere visual spit-shine for the MT-07 platform, no sir!" Previous updates had brought mild suspension tweaks, emissions-compliance engine adjustments, and styling refreshes while leaving the core machine largely untouched — this fourth-generation redesign is genuinely different, finally giving the beloved middleweight naked a proper inverted fork for the first time in its history.

The 689cc CP2 parallel-twin carries over with unchanged output — 72.4 hp at 8,750 rpm and 49.4 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm — but Bennetts' UK review found the character genuinely transformed regardless: a new air cleaner, intake ducts, and funnels, paired with an acoustic sound-enhancer built into the fuel tank cover, direct a noticeably more aggressive, raspier induction note at the rider without raising overall volume for bystanders. The real mechanical news is the addition of Yamaha's Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) ride-by-wire system — a first for the entire CP2 platform — unlocking Sport, Street, and a customizable third mode, each combining different power maps with two levels of switchable traction control. An Assist & Slipper clutch smooths downshifts and lightens lever pull, and buyers can choose between the standard 6-speed manual or Yamaha's Y-AMT automated transmission, which arrived on the MT-09 the year before and comes standard with cruise control.

Motorcycle.com's testing found the chassis changes just as significant: a stiffened tubular steel trellis frame (with only the headstock left unchanged) now carries a proper 41mm inverted fork and radially mounted 4-piston front brake calipers on large twin discs — genuine sportbike-grade hardware for a bike that never had it before. Lighter SpinForged wheels, a lighter fuel filler cap, and other detail weight savings offset the added electronics hardware, delivering a claimed wet weight of 403 lbs — 2.2 lbs lighter than the outgoing 2024 model despite the extra tech. A new 5-inch color TFT dash brings smartphone connectivity, message and call notifications, and free turn-by-turn navigation through the Garmin StreetCross app, alongside new switchgear and self-canceling turn signals with a three-flash lane-change function. 2025 colors included Team Yamaha Blue, Matte Charcoal Black, and Ice Storm, with pricing starting at $8,599.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2025 MT-07 running the way it was built to.
