Triumph Street Triple 675 (2008-2012): The Naked Daytona with Speed Triple Attitude

Since its launch the Street Triple has been a global hit, fusing the style and attitude of the iconic Speed Triple with the performance and agility of the class-leading Daytona 675 supersports machine. It shares parts with the Daytona, mainly in the aluminum twin-spar frame and swingarm, and at 167 kg dry it’s a lightweight, easy-to-manoeuvre bike. The 2008-2010 bikes have the twin round headlights and a 41mm KYB upside-down fork, and the R version adds a fully adjustable fork and a piggyback rear shock for a more aggressive riding position (with a seat 5mm taller). For 2012 the circular headlights changed to an angular shape in line with the Speed Triple’s new look, with redesigned side casings, a brushed aluminum finish around the exhaust and black rear sets, and ABS became an option on the 2011-2012 R. Owners rate it highly, and its top speed is about 139-141 mph.

The engine is a 675cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline triple with four valves per cylinder (12 in all), a 74mm x 51-52.3mm bore and stroke and a 12.65:1 compression ratio. Multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection with forced air induction feeds it, and the exhaust is a stainless steel 3-into-1 with a low single-sided silencer. Triumph claims 105 hp (78 kW) at 11,700-11,850 rpm and 68 Nm (50 lb-ft) of torque at 9,200-9,750 rpm. The gearbox is a six-speed with a wet multi-plate clutch and chain final drive.

The frame is an aluminum beam twin-spar design with a KYB 41mm upside-down fork (about 120mm of travel) and a KYB monoshock with adjustable preload (about 126mm of travel). Brakes are twin 308mm floating front discs with Nissin two-piston sliding calipers and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper. Tires are a 120/70ZR17 at the front and a 180/55ZR17 at the rear.

The Street Triple is about 1,999mm (78.7 inches) long and 734mm (28.9 inches) wide, on a wheelbase of about 1,389-1,410mm (54.7-55.5 inches). Seat height is 800mm (31.5 inches), or 805mm on the R. The tank holds about 17.4 litres (4.6 gallons), with a range of about 145 miles, and engine oil capacity is about 3.4 litres. The Street Triple weighs about 167 kg (368 lbs) dry and about 182 kg (400 lbs) wet.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a Street Triple 675 running the way it was built to.
