Scrambler 1200 XE (2019-2023): "The Ultimate Scrambler" — The Genuinely Dirt-Focused Sibling With Nearly 10 Inches of Suspension Travel
Ultimate Motorcycling's own first-look coverage confirms exactly what motorcyclists had been asking Triumph for years to build: "now, Triumph has released the details of its performance-forward Scrambler — a motorcycle that many Triumph enthusiasts have craved. Meet the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200, which is available in XC and more dirt-worthy XE versions." Triumph's own product materials confirm the XE's genuine positioning within that two-model range: "the ultimate Scrambler, and the real deal for road and full-on off-road adventures. The 1200 XE has the capability to take the rough with the smooth."
Power comes from a 1,200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin, high-compression head with a low-inertia crank, delivering a claimed 89-90 hp at 7,400 rpm and roughly 81 lb-ft (110 Nm) of torque at 3,950-4,250 rpm — Ultimate Motorcycling's own launch coverage confirms this genuinely represents a real step up over Triumph's other 1200cc-badged machines: "the Scrambler 1200 is more powerful than other 1200cc Triumphs, creating 89 horsepower at 7400 rpm. This is 12.5 percent more powerful than the Bonneville T120, and 38 percent more powerful than the smaller displacement Street Scrambler," with torque deliberately concentrated low in the rev range — "37.5 percent more" than the smaller Street Scrambler at 3,950 rpm.
Autoevolution's own detailed spec comparison confirms exactly what genuinely distinguishes the XE from its more road-biased XC sibling: while the XC runs "Showa 45mm fully adjustable USD forks. 200mm wheel travel," the XE steps up to "Showa 47mm fully adjustable USD forks. 250mm wheel travel" — genuinely longer-travel front suspension, backed by identical Öhlins fully adjustable piggy-back rear shock units with twin springs at both ends. Ultimate Motorcycling's own coverage confirms the real scale of that rear-suspension difference: "the XC version has nearly eight inches of travel, and the XE gets nearly 10 inches of travel" — a genuinely significant off-road capability gap between the two variants sharing the same engine.
Autoevolution's own detailed equipment breakdown confirms the XE's genuinely more serious off-road-focused specification beyond just suspension: "unlike the XC model, the XE version had longer suspension travel, adjustable folding foot controls, hand guards with aluminum braces, and a Brembo MCS lever," alongside top-of-the-range finish details including "the iconic Triumph tank badge, a silver handlebar with blacked-out anodized risers and clamps, a gold-finished front fork." Triumph's own 2022 product page confirms the genuinely comprehensive electronics package standard on this model: "cruise control, ride-by-wire, Scrambler-specific riding modes, ABS and easy-to-read TFT instruments," with the XE specifically getting "'Off-Road Pro' for full on Scrambler fun" as a sixth riding mode beyond the Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road, and Rider-Configurable settings shared with the XC. Braking uses "category-leading Brembo Monobloc M50 front calipers with twin 320mm floating discs," a genuine premium braking package Triumph applied consistently across this whole 1200-class Scrambler range. Standard equipment throughout this generation included a round headlight, a one-piece dual seat, a passenger grab rail, a skid plate, wire-spoke wheels with a 21-inch front, and Triumph's signature crossover-header, high-mounted stacked exhaust silencers on the right-hand side. Motorcycle.com's own confirmed 2023 pricing shows $16,195 for the final model year of this generation before Triumph's subsequent update.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2019-2023 Scrambler 1200 XE running the way it was built to.
