Triumph Daytona 675 (2008-2012): The Triple That Won Three Supertests

Triumph’s Daytona 675 is a 675cc triple supersport that has won three consecutive Supertest shootouts, two Masterbike supersport wins and five European supersport championships. Its three-cylinder engine is a masterpiece of compact simplicity, with a stacked gearbox and close-ratio gears, and it has a broad spread of power and an excellent fuelling system, along with the classy instrument cluster that makes it feel a cut above other 600 supersports. The 2009 model was updated with more than 50 changes: new cylinder-head exhaust ports with oval exits, lighter headers (more than a pound lighter) and a claimed three-horsepower boost. The chassis is an aluminum twin-spar frame with a fully adjustable fork and shock (preload, rebound and compression), and the brakes were well praised, with zero fade under hard braking. Top speed is about 160 mph, and the quarter mile takes about 11 seconds.

The engine is a 675cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline triple with four valves per cylinder (12 in all), a 74mm x 52.3mm bore and stroke and a 12.6-12.7:1 compression ratio, with fuel injection. Claimed power is 123 hp at 12,500 rpm on the 2008 bike and 126 hp at 12,600 rpm from 2009. Torque is about 72-73 Nm (53-54 lb-ft) at 11,750 rpm. The gearbox is a six-speed with chain final drive.

Brakes are dual 308mm front discs with four-piston calipers and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper, on five-spoke alloy wheels, with 120/70ZR17 front and 180/55ZR17 rear tires.

The Daytona 675 is about 2,010mm (79.1 inches) long, 700mm wide and 1,120mm high, on a 1,395mm (54.9-inch) wheelbase. Seat height is 825mm (32.5 inches). The tank holds about 17.4 litres (4.6 gallons), with a range of about 125-165 miles. The Daytona 675 weighs about 165 kg (364 lbs) dry on the 2008 bike and about 162 kg (357 lbs) dry from 2009, or about 422 lbs wet.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a Daytona 675 running the way it was built to.
