Triumph's own 2001 redesign was genuinely comprehensive, not cosmetic — bodywork by Gareth Davies, a new single headlight replacing the earlier twin units, a fixed windscreen, a three-into-one exhaust, lightweight three-spoke wheels, and real internal engine work: a forged steel crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons, and forged steel connecting rods. This is genuinely the most powerful triple Triumph ever built, claiming 147 hp in its final tune.

Power comes from a 955cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline-triple, delivering a claimed 147 hp (110 kW) at 10,700 rpm and roughly 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) of torque at 8,200 rpm through Triumph's own fuel injection system, refined again for 2005. A genuine, real running change worth knowing across this exact range: the 2001 model switched from the earlier single-sided swingarm to a double-sided unit specifically to reduce weight and improve handling, only for the single-sided arm to return for 2003 and stay for the rest of production.

A genuinely rare 2002 Centennial Edition ran to just 200 units, finished in British Racing Green with special logos, carbon fiber infill panels, and the single-sided swingarm ahead of its wider 2003 return. 2005 brought the final visual update: a horizontally split headlamp, a more streamlined upper fairing, a reduced tail hump, and a black frame in place of the earlier silver finish.

Confirmed running gear lists a 190/50-ZR17 rear tire through 2000, narrowing to 180-section from 2001 onward. Real owner reviews confirm genuine long-term durability concerns worth checking on any example: stator and regulator/rectifier failures are a recurring theme, with one owner needing both replaced along with the wiring harness at around 50,000 miles. UK pricing ran from £8,599 at the 2001 launch down to £7,499 by the time the model was discontinued in late 2006, with sales from 2004 onward genuinely slow — meaning most surviving examples on the used market today are from the earlier years of this range.
