GZ150: Suzuki’s Beginner-Friendly Small Cruiser
The GZ150 is the small cruiser of Suzuki’s GZ series, the line of beginner-friendly cruisers built since 1998 and based on the GN series. It has a low seat, a stretched profile and relaxed ergonomics, with forward-set footpegs and a wide, slightly pulled-back handlebar. Suzuki sold it as a low-cost entry-level alternative to larger choppers in a handful of markets. Instrumentation is basic, with a speedometer, odometer with trip, high-beam and turn indicators and a gear-position indicator. It has no ABS and no windshield.
Power comes from a 149.5cc air-cooled SOHC single-cylinder four-stroke, with a 57mm x 58.6mm bore and stroke and a 9.2:1 compression ratio. Most listings call it carbureted, while the Wikipedia entry for the 2012 bike says fuel injected, so confirm which one a given bike has. Output is about 15.4 PS (about 15.2 hp) at 8,000-10,000 rpm depending on the source, and torque is about 11.2 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The gearbox is a 5-speed with a wet multi-disc clutch and chain final drive.
The chassis is a steel frame with a telescopic fork and a swingarm with 5-step adjustable rear shock absorbers. Brakes are a single front disc and a rear drum, on tubeless tires. Confirmed figures list a seat height of about 710mm and a weight of about 150 kg. Colours were Red/Silver and Black/Silver, and owners can expect about 35-40 km per litre.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2012-onward Suzuki GZ150 running the way it was built to.
