GSX-S1000GT: The F Grows Up, a Complete Redesign of the GSX-S1000F Sport-Tourer
Suzuki called the GT a complete redesign of the GSX-S1000F. The engine and main frame lineage carried on, but the touring hardware changed a lot. It gets wind-tunnel-developed bodywork, dual mono-focus LED headlights with a V-shaped LED position light, a seat with grippier material for sport-touring, and the first 6.5-inch TFT display on a Suzuki. The tapered handlebar is 0.9 inch wider, rotated slightly upward and 0.6 inch closer to the rider than the F's. The tank holds 19 litres (5.0 US gal), up from the F's 17 litres.
Power comes from the 999cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four, the long-running GSX-R1000 K5-derived engine. It has a 73.4mm x 59.0mm bore and stroke and a 12.2:1 compression ratio, fed by 40mm ride-by-wire throttle bodies with long-tip 10-hole injectors. Claimed output is 150 hp at 11,000 rpm and 78 lb-ft (about 106 Nm) at 9,250 rpm. The gearbox is a 6-speed with a bi-directional quickshifter and a larger-diameter assist-and-slipper clutch. Three power modes (A, B and C) share the same peak figures but deliver them differently, and there is five-level traction control. Valve inspection is every 15,000 miles.
The chassis is a twin-spar cast aluminum frame with a fully adjustable 43mm inverted KYB fork (4.7 inches of travel) and a link-type KYB rear shock with preload and rebound adjustment (5.1 inches). Brakes are dual 310mm floating discs with Brembo radial four-piston calipers and a 240mm rear disc, with ABS. Tires are Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 in 120/70ZR17 front and 190/50ZR17 rear sizes on six-spoke cast wheels.
Confirmed figures list a 57.5-inch wheelbase, a 25-degree rake with 3.9 inches of trail, a 31.9-inch (810mm) seat height and a wet weight of 498 lbs. Top speed is about 145 mph. Owners rate it 4.2 out of 5 for reliability and quote around £410 for a year of servicing. Suzuki sold it in Metallic Reflective Blue and Glass Sparkle Black at $13,149 in the US.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2022-onwards GSX-S1000GT running the way it was built to.
