Personal Watercraft's own review confirms exactly what's kept the Spark relevant since launch: "what's the most inexpensive personal watercraft on the market? The answer is the same as it has been for years — the 2022 Sea-Doo SPARK... the craft has succumbed to price creep just like almost everything else in the world. That oh-so-attractive original sticker of $4,999 is now up to $5,699." That same review credits the platform's genuine engineering foundation: "Sea-Doo started with a then-revolutionary hull and deck material called PolyTec, a polypropylene reinforced with fiberglass mix that proved durable, less expensive to produce, and dropped significant weight."

Power comes from the Rotax 900 ACE, a naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine offered in two states of tune: a base 60hp version standard on the 2-up and 3-up models, and a 90hp High Output (H.O.) variant available as an upgrade. Personal Watercraft's own testing is candid the base engine "can definitely produce a fun ride for a segment of riders but one that will likely fall short of what many riders expect," recommending the 90hp option instead — bumping top speed from roughly 40-42 mph to about 48 mph and adding genuine low-end snap for spins and jumps, plus a Touring mode to dial back power and save fuel when wanted.

The 3-up model runs 10 inches longer than the 2-up to accommodate a third rider and a rear boarding platform, though Boating Beast's own review questions the value: the 3-up costs $1,300 more than the 2-up for "the extra seat, rear platform, and 30HP" alone. Optional Convenience Plus packages add iBR (Intelligent Brake & Reverse), a portable BRP Audio system, front storage bin, and boarding step. A SparkTRIXX variant is the only way to get the 90hp engine on the 2-up specifically.
