Power comes from the 346cc air-cooled OHV single, evolved from the original all-cast-iron unit into an all-alloy configuration (a change made before this generation but continuing through it), still running through a separate four-speed gearbox rather than a modern unit-construction design. Royal Enfield's own historical account notes that keeping this classic pushrod single compliant with tightening emissions regulations became "a constant challenge" through the 1990s and early 2000s — a challenge that eventually forced the far more significant UCE (Unit Construction Engine) redesign that launched internationally in 2008, right after this generation's run ended.

Genuine ownership-relevant milestones through this period: 1994 saw the Eicher Group secure a 60% stake in Enfield India, kicking off a sustained quality-improvement program; 1996 brought small-volume UK imports; and 1997 marked Eicher's full acquisition of the factory. In 2002, the UK importer launched a dedicated 350 Trials variant with alloy mudguards, wide bars, a solo seat, and a bash plate — priced around £3,000. 2004 brought the Bullet Classic Deluxe 350, adding chromed parts, a two-tone tank, and knee pads for buyers wanting extra flash, though that variant was discontinued again in 2005. The entire 350cc range was finally discontinued in 2006, with remaining stock cleared at a reduced £1,995 — closing out the last chapter of the old pre-unit-adjacent 350 before Royal Enfield's Classic and later UCE-powered ranges took over.
