Polaris Ranger XP 900 and XP 1000 2018-2019 Service Manual: ProStar 875 and 1000 Twin Utility Side-by-Side Repair Guide
Polaris launched the Ranger XP 900 in 2013 as a ground-up redesign of the Ranger line, with the engine moved behind the cab. It went on to become the best-selling utility side-by-side in the world. The XP 1000 arrived in 2017 as the bigger, tougher step up, and Polaris reworked it for 2018 with a new chassis, clutching and driveline.
The XP 900 runs an 875cc liquid-cooled DOHC twin-cylinder ProStar engine with electronic fuel injection, making about 68 hp. The XP 1000 uses a 999cc four-valve-per-cylinder DOHC twin with a 93mm bore and 73.6mm stroke, making around 80 hp. Both send power through an automatic PVT with high, low, neutral, reverse and park, driving all four wheels through shafts.
The XP 900 has 10 inches of suspension travel front and rear, with a 1,000 lb cargo box and 2,000 lb towing rating. The XP 1000 steps up to 11 inches of travel, about 13 inches of ground clearance and a 2,500 lb tow rating. Both use four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes with dual-bore calipers.
