Ranger XP 1000 (2023-2025): Polaris's Best-Selling Side-by-Side Ever, Now With a Restyled Front End and an Easier-Shifting Gen 2 Transmission

Polaris's own 2025 launch materials call this "the best-selling side-by-side of all time," and confirm genuine, substantive changes for that model year rather than just new colorways: a bold, restyled front-end design with a new bumper and grille, standard 29-inch tires adding an inch of ground clearance, and — across the whole lineup — "an upgraded Gen 2 transmission reduces shifting effort up to 50% to enable easier and smoother shifting."

Power comes from the ProStar 999cc parallel-twin, DOHC, delivering a claimed 82 hp and 62 lb-ft of torque at a 10.8:1 compression ratio, run through electronic fuel injection and electric start. Autotrader's own confirmed 2025 spec sheet lists an 81-inch wheelbase and 11.5-gallon fuel capacity, with class-leading 1,000-lb box capacity and 2,500-lb towing capacity carried forward from prior years.

Polaris's own 2025 announcement confirms a genuine steering upgrade: "an upgraded electric power steering system with enhanced control and responsiveness, especially at low speeds," plus redesigned cab nets with a new single-latch connection point for easier entry and exit. The Ranger 1000 Premium and XP 1000 now come factory-installed with a roof and a Polaris HD 4,500-lb winch with synthetic rope, autostop, and wireless remote — standard equipment that previously required an accessory purchase.

Standard instrumentation across the range includes dual-sweep analog dials with a 4-inch LCD Rider Information Center, showing speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, fuel gauge, coolant temperature, and programmable service intervals, plus a DC outlet and USB charge port. The range-topping NorthStar Ultimate trim adds factory-installed JBL audio for 2025 — a genuine upgrade over the standard audio setup on lesser trims. This ProStar 999cc engine and chassis architecture carried consistently across 2023 and 2024 before the 2025 restyle and Gen 2 transmission arrived.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2023-2025 Ranger XP 1000 running the way it was built to.
