V7 III Racer (2017-2020): The Café Racer of the Third-Generation V7, Rebuilt for Its Tenth Birthday in 2020

Moto Guzzi's own line is that the V7 Racer has always been the ambassador of the V7 range with the sportiest spirit. It was born in 2010, evolved with the V7 II Racer in 2015 and again with the V7 III in 2017. For 2020 it was reinvented as the Racer 10th Anniversary, with a new black top fairing with a small screen and red graphics, a full LED light package (round LED headlight, LED turn signals and tail light), a slimmer rear mudguard and bar-end mirrors. The all-chrome fuel tank returned for the first time since the Racer's 2010 debut, held by a black leather strap with red stitching. Each 10th Anniversary is a numbered edition, with the serial number engraved on the upper fork clamp. Earlier 2017-2019 bikes don't have these 2020 changes.

Power comes from the third-generation 744cc air-cooled 90-degree V-twin, with an 80mm x 74mm bore and stroke and a 10.5:1 compression ratio. It makes a claimed 52 hp at 6,200 rpm and 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) of torque at 4,900 rpm, through a 6-speed gearbox with shaft final drive. It meets Euro 4 and has ABS, and it is rated at about 170 km/h.

The Racer's set-up is its own. It has sporty set-back footpegs machined from billet, a lightened steering stem and a steering-yoke guard, a red frame, black side covers, a black exhaust and a black fork. Suspension is a 40mm fork with 130mm of travel and adjustable rear shocks with about 96mm of travel. Brakes are a 320mm front disc and a 260mm rear disc, both with ABS. Tires are a 100/90-18 front and a 130/80-17 rear.

Confirmed figures list a wheelbase of about 1,449-1,463mm, a seat height of about 770-790mm, a dry weight of about 189 kg (417 lbs) and a wet weight of about 209 kg (461 lbs). The tank holds about 21-22 litres (5.5 gallons) including a 4-litre reserve. The 2019 Racer listed at $9,990 in the US.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2017-2020 V7 III Racer running the way it was built to.
