V7 Café Classic (2009-2013): The Legnano-Green Café Racer Inspired by the Original V7 Sport
Moto Guzzi built the Café Classic by raiding its back catalogue again after the V7 Classic, this time recreating the early-1970s V7 Sport. It has the jutting air-cooled cylinders, low clip-on handlebars mounted below the triple clamps and black-faced Veglia-style twin dials. Its shapely tank is painted in a satin "Legnano" green-and-metallic-gold, a blend Moto Guzzi mixed to echo the original Sport's colour. The upswept silencers and humped single seat aren't strictly accurate to the Sport, but they add to the racy look. Other details are a chrome locking tank filler, a minimal front fender, a matte black rear fender and spoked wheels with black anodised aluminium rims.
Power comes from the V7 Classic's 744cc air-cooled 90-degree V-twin, first used in the Breva 750, with an 80mm x 74mm bore and stroke. It makes about 48-49 hp at 6,800 rpm and about 58 Nm (43 lb-ft) of torque at 3,200 rpm. The gearbox is a 5-speed with a single-plate dry clutch and shaft final drive. Moto Guzzi's range figure for the 17-litre tank is about 175 miles.
The chassis is a double-cradle steel frame with Marzocchi suspension. Brakes are a four-piston Brembo caliper at the front and a two-piston disc at the rear. Tires are a 110/90-18 front and a 130/80-17 rear.
Confirmed figures list a 805mm (31.7-inch) seat height, a 1,435mm wheelbase and a kerb weight of about 182-198 kg, rising across the run. The clip-ons give a stretched-out riding position, and the sharp bend in the clutch cable makes the pull heavier than on the V7 Classic, so taller riders can find it cramped. Testers found its speedometer slightly optimistic, with an indicated 120 km/h about 116 km/h in reality.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2009-2013 V7 Café Classic running the way it was built to.
