LXR 125 Euro5 (2021-2024): "The Highest Selling Sportsbike of 2020," Given Its First Engine Update Since Launch

Visordown's own launch coverage confirms just how much market momentum this bike carried into its first genuine mechanical update: "Lexmoto has rocketed up the sales charts in recent years, and a huge part of their success is the affordable and sporty LXR 125 (and LXR SE 125) — the highest selling sportsbike of 2020." MCN's own review confirms exactly what changed and why: "Lexmoto have been working with TARO for 14 years and for 2021 the LXR has been upgraded to meet Euro5 regulations through an all-new twin-cam four-valve motor, which is the bike's first update since its launch in 2019."

Power comes from a 125cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, now running DOHC with 4 valves — a genuine architectural upgrade over the outgoing bike, which MCN's own review confirms "had a single overhead cam and just two valves" — delivering a claimed 12.5 hp at 9,000 rpm and roughly 11 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, per Visordown's own launch figures: "higher max power and torque figures — 12.5 bhp at 9000 rpm (+0.4 bhp accessed 500 revs lower in the rev range than previously), and 11Nm at 6750 rpm (+1.5~ Nm at 250 revs higher than previously) with a 12:1 compression ratio," run through a genuine 6-speed gearbox. MCN's own testing offers a candid real-world assessment of that engine's character: "a touch more spirited than before, it revs quickly but isn't as refined or smooth motor as more expensive rival 125s use and also not as fast... happy to sit at 60mph but up this to 65mph and once the rev counter goes past 8000rpm the motor's vibrations are quite intrusive, even more so at 70mph, which is when it runs out of puff."

MCN's own review is candid that this update was deliberately targeted, not comprehensive: "to be brutally honest the rest of the bike is basically identical to before and aside from a new shock, which is longer and raises the seat height by 20mm to 820mm, the 2021 LXR is identical to the 2020 model (the Lexmoto LXR SE gets more updates)." Because ABS isn't mandatory at this displacement, MCN's own review confirms the LXR "makes do with combined brakes instead. A cost-saving choice, the LXR's twin four-piston radial front calipers run braided lines (the lever has a span adjuster) and wave discs and are fine in their power and feel however the rear is just too sharp, making it hard to apply precise pressure at low speed." TheBikeMarket's own real owner review, a 51-year-old rider with 25+ years of experience, confirms the ergonomics genuinely suit taller riders: "at 820 mm this suits the more taller rider or long legs. The bike is setup great, it corners well on the 17 inch tyres, which again are bigger than your usual 125" — the same review notes this frame is shared directly with Lexmoto's 380cc sibling, with the engine being the sole distinguishing difference between the two.

Lexmoto's own product materials confirm the standard equipment across this range includes a digital display, LED headlights, and a stainless steel exhaust for improved durability, with the range-topping SE variant adding inverted forks, an aluminum swingarm and top yoke, and a full-colour TFT display over the standard LXR's simpler instrumentation. Visordown's own launch pricing confirms genuinely accessible positioning at £2,499.99 for the standard LXR 125 and £2,799.99 for the SE, available from March 2021.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2021-2024 LXR 125 Euro5 running the way it was built to.
