KTM 500 XW-F Service Manual: Workshop Guide for KTM’s 510cc Four-Stroke Off-Road Platform

KTM’s 500cc four-stroke is the big-bore end of its off-road range. In 2025-2026 the closest listed model is the 500 EXC-F, which KTM describes as built for championship-level off-road performance with the torque to match. It suits everything from tight single trails to wide-open desert, with selectable engine maps and smooth throttle response. If you’re working on a 500cc KTM from this family, confirm the exact model code against your frame number before ordering parts.

The engine is a 510.9cc liquid-cooled single with a 72mm bore, a 95mm stroke and a compression ratio of about 12.75:1. Keihin fuel injection with a 42mm throttle body feeds it, with Keihin engine management. It has a 6-speed gearbox, a wet DDS multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics, a 29:72 primary drive and a 520 X-ring chain.

The chassis is a central double-cradle frame in 25CrMo4 chromoly, with an aluminium-reinforced polyamide subframe. Suspension is a 48mm WP XACT inverted fork with 300mm of travel and a WP XPLOR shock with PDS and 310mm of travel, both adjustable. There are disc brakes at both ends. KTM lists a 963mm seat height, 347mm of ground clearance, an 8.5-litre tank and a weight of about 108 kg without fuel.
