KTM 250 EXC and 250 XC-W 2025-2026 Service Manual: Fuel-Injected Two-Stroke Enduro Repair Guide

KTM built its reputation in enduro on the 250 EXC, which debuted in 2017 with the most powerful two-stroke engine in its class. For 2026 the 250 two-stroke was renamed XC-W to reflect its competition focus, with updated WP fork damping, a new one-piece hydro stop and a revised radiator cap.

The engine is a 249cc single-cylinder two-stroke with a 6-speed gearbox. It uses KTM's TPI fuel injection with a 39mm throttle body and a Vitesco engine management system, so there is no carburettor jetting to worry about. A wet DDS multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics handles the primary drive, which is 26:72.

The central double-cradle frame is built from 25CrMo4 steel and carries an aluminium-reinforced polyamide subframe. Suspension is a 48mm WP XACT USD fork with 300mm of travel and a WP XPLOR rear shock with PDS and 310mm of travel. Final drive is a 520 X-Ring chain, and the 9-litre tank, 963mm seat height and 347mm ground clearance are set up for serious off-road riding.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a KTM 250 EXC and 250 XC-W running the way it was built to.
