Teryx4 LE 800 (2014-2015): Kawasaki's Four-Seat Side x Side Gets a Genuine Power Boost

UTV Action Magazine didn't mince words about what changed for 2014: Kawasaki stroked the existing engine 3mm to bump displacement from 749cc to 783cc, raised compression, and delivered a 12% torque gain and a genuine 26% jump in power over the outgoing model — a meaningful upgrade, not a badge refresh. The LE trim sits at the top of the Teryx4 range, adding custom styling touches to the platform's core mechanical improvements.

Power comes from a liquid/oil-cooled 783cc SOHC 90-degree V-twin with 8 valves, an oversquare 85mm x 69mm bore and stroke, and a 10.7:1 compression ratio (up from 9.3:1 the year before), fed through digital fuel injection with two 36mm Mikuni throttle bodies controlled by a 32-bit ECU monitoring coolant temperature, intake air, throttle position, and crankshaft angle in real time. Off-Road.com's own testing found the redesigned intake snorkel and revised cam profiles delivered genuinely noticeable extra punch over the previous 749cc engine, with the CVT clutch and braking also retuned for the added output. Power runs through a belt-driven CVT with high/low range, reverse, and Kawasaki's selectable 2WD/4WD system with front differential lock just one click past 4WD on the dash selector.

The LE-specific upgrades went beyond the drivetrain: all-new Fox Podium shocks on all four corners, with remote reservoirs, adjustable spring preload, and 24-way compression damping, delivering 8.0 inches of front and 8.3 inches of rear wheel travel — genuinely tuned for rough-terrain composure rather than just looking the part. High-intensity LED headlights, lightweight cast-aluminum wheels, a cab roof/sun top, and premium candy-colored Lime Green or Burnt Orange automotive-quality bodywork with color-matched shock springs and A-arms rounded out the LE's distinguishing features, along with three-tone high-back bucket seats for all four occupants. Curb weight comes in around 1,580 lbs, with a 7.9-gallon fuel tank and 1,300 lb towing capacity.
