KX250F (2011-2012): "The World's First Dual Injectors for a Motocrosser" — Two Consecutive Years of Genuine Industry Firsts
Total Motorcycle's own confirmed press materials call out the platform's back-to-back innovations directly: "the Kawasaki KX250F revolutionised the industry in 2011 with the world's first mass-production use of Separate Function front Fork (SFF) on a motocrosser. Now with the announcement of another first for 2012, the world's first dual injectors for a motocrosser, the 2012 Kawasaki KX250F continues to set the standard."
Power comes from a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, a 77.0mm x 53.6mm bore and stroke, a 13.5:1 compression ratio, delivering a claimed 43 hp at 11,500 rpm and 22 lb-ft (30 Nm) of torque at 9,000 rpm through a 5-speed transmission. Autoevolution's own confirmed 2011 account credits Kawasaki's new Digital Fuel Injection system, borrowed conceptually from the larger KX450F, with improving engine response time and reducing hesitation on jump landings.
Motocross Action's own detailed technical breakdown confirms exactly how the 2012 dual-injector system genuinely worked: two fine-mist atomizing injectors of different physical sizes but identical per-cycle capacity, delivering "a second dose of fuel on acceleration to increase the high-rpm power and overrev capabilities," backed by an updated ECU, a new throttle body seal preventing fuel penetration from the upstream injector, and a specifically reshaped air boot to accommodate it. Webike Japan's own confirmed 2012 update details further internal engine refinement that year: revised crank web, crank pin, connecting rod optimization, and piston surface treatment.
The chassis uses a perimeter aluminum frame with a 47mm inverted Showa SFF fork offering 22-way compression and 20-way rebound damping, paired with a Uni-Trak rear shock — Webike Japan's own confirmed 2012 changes note the SFF fork settings and Uni-Trak linkage mount position and rigidity were both revised that year, alongside a new seat urethane material. Braking uses a 250mm front disc and 240mm rear disc.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2011-2012 KX250F running the way it was built to.
