John Deere Gator TX Turf 2004-2008 Service Manual

The TX Turf is the lightest of Deere's Turf Gator vehicles, built for golf courses, sports fields and grounds crews. Its selling points are a differential that reduces turf scuffing in tight turns, since the inside wheel turns slower than the outside wheel instead of skidding, and soft four-ply turf tires that minimize compaction and rutting on soft ground. The Gator TX line first appeared in 2004.

Power comes from a 13.5 hp (10.1 kW), 401cc single-cylinder, four-cycle gas engine, air-cooled with an overhead-valve design. Drive goes through a continuously variable transmission to a transaxle and the rear axle. It is two-wheel drive only, with no traction assist or descent control, and the final drive is fully enclosed in an oil bath.

Brakes are wet discs in the transaxle, with a hand-operated wet-disc parking brake. The front suspension is independent spring-over-shock on single A-arms, and the rear is a solid axle running on two high-flotation, low-pressure tires. Tires are 22x9.5-10 4PR turf at the front and 24x12-10 4PR turf at the rear, on steel wheels.

Confirmed figures list a 77-inch (1,956mm) wheelbase and a 1,105-lb (501 kg) dry weight. The tank holds 5 gallons. The cargo box is about 45 x 12 x 52 inches with a 600-lb capacity, and towing capacity is 1,000 lbs.
