Husqvarna 701 Enduro (2021-2024): The Lightweight Big-Single Adventure Enduro

The 701 Enduro is Husqvarna’s lightweight “street-legal enduro,” built on the platform shared with KTM’s 690 Enduro and sharing its single-cylinder engine with five other models. The 693cc SOHC single is liquid-cooled with electric starting, fuel injection and a ride-by-wire throttle that allows multiple ride modes, plus lean-sensitive ABS and traction control. A chromoly steel trellis frame anchors the chassis, with a self-supporting polyamide rear subframe that has the 13-litre fuel tank built in (it’s a single 5.2 kg piece, which positions the weight well). Suspension is WP XPLOR with 250mm (9.8 inches) of travel at both ends, and the wire-spoked wheels (21-inch front, 18-inch rear) give it genuine off-road ability, with Brembo brakes and Bosch ABS. The US price was $12,999 in 2023-2024.

The engine is a 692.7cc liquid-cooled SOHC single with four valves (42mm intake and 34mm exhaust, operated by rocker arms), a 105mm x 80mm bore and stroke and a 12.7:1 compression ratio. A 50mm Keihin throttle body feeds it, with Keihin engine management, ride-by-wire and twin ignition, and forced lubrication with two oil pumps. Husqvarna claims 74 hp (55 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 73.5 Nm (54 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm. The gearbox is a six-speed with a cable-operated wet slipper clutch and chain final drive, with an Easy Shift function.

The front suspension is a WP XPLOR 48mm fork with about 250mm of travel, and the rear is a WP XPLOR shock with Pro-Lever linkage and 250mm of travel. Brakes are a 300mm front disc with a Brembo two-piston floating caliper and a 240mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper, with Bosch 9.1MP two-channel ABS that includes cornering ABS and a disengageable supermoto mode. Wheels are 1.85 x 21 and 2.50 x 18, with a 90/90-21 front tire and a 140/80-18 rear tire. Trail is about 117mm on a wheelbase of about 1,502-1,505mm, with about 270mm of ground clearance.

Seat height is about 910-925mm (35.8-36.4 inches). The tank holds about 13 litres (3.4 gallons), including a 2.5-litre reserve. The 701 Enduro weighs about 146-147 kg (322-324 lbs) without fuel, and about 156 kg (344 lbs) wet on one 2022 spec sheet.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 701 Enduro running the way it was built to.
