2021 brought the first major update to Honda's genre-bending X-ADV, and it was substantial: revised valve timing added 4 hp to the parallel-twin, brought the engine into Euro5 compliance, and reworked the DCT gear ratios — lower on the first three gears, taller on the final three — for stronger low-speed punch without sacrificing highway cruising efficiency. A revised frame, ride-by-wire throttle with additional rider modes including a dedicated Gravel setting, deeper traction control, a new glovebox compartment, and smart-key functionality rounded out the overhaul.

The 745cc parallel-twin, shared with the NC750X, delivers a claimed 58 hp and around 50 lb-ft of torque, run through Honda's DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission with Walk, Sport, and Tour modes — a system owners consistently praise for reading riding intent accurately, holding gears longer under spirited riding without feeling like it's fighting the rider. 2024 brought targeted, more modest refinements: a redesigned front fascia with the headlight cluster moved to a lower position, and revisions to the exhaust system improving both ground clearance and passenger footpeg accommodation. Two new Special Edition colorways in gray and red joined the existing Matte Ballistic Black Metallic and Paco Blue lineup. Throughout this generation, the X-ADV kept its 41mm telescopic front fork, linked ABS, electronically adjustable rear preload, a 21.3-litre under-seat storage compartment, and 16-inch front/15-inch rear wheels built for genuine light off-road capability despite the scooter format.
