CS92 Benly: The Rare High-Pipe Scrambler Cousin to the CB92
Where the C92 handled touring duty and the CB92 chased Super Sport glory, the CS92 was Honda's early nod to off-road capability — sharing the same frame and running gear as the CB92 Super Sport, but distinguished by a high-mounted, upswept exhaust system styled after contemporary scramblers. Introduced alongside the CB92 and CA92 in 1959, it's now one of the rarest and least documented of the early Benly 125 variants.
Power comes from the same 124cc air-cooled OHC parallel twin architecture underpinning the rest of the Benly family, running through a 4-speed gearbox with a fully-enclosed final drive chain and helical-cut primary gears feeding a multi-plate wet clutch. Early production models are noted for their alloy gas tanks, fenders, and side covers — lightweight touches that suited the scrambler-inspired positioning, alongside a pressed-steel backbone frame shared across the C92/CS92/CB92 family.
Because the CS92 borrowed so heavily from CB92 componentry, clean, correctly-matched examples are genuinely hard to find today — engine and frame numbers get mixed between the two models more often than any other bike in the lineup, making documentation and correct parts matching essential for any restoration.
Scarce parts and shared components make it even more important to get service work right the first time. This manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a CS92 Benly's engine and driveline running the way Honda built it.
