CRF250R (2025-2026): The Redesigned-Chassis 250 Built from Honda’s Championship Race Bikes
Honda describes the 2025 CRF250R as built on changes developed on its factory race bikes, after the previous model won both Supercross 250 titles and the 250 Motocross National Championship. For 2025 it got a new frame tuned for turning response, new suspension components for a more consistent feel through the stroke, new triple clamps, a new suspension linkage and a more linear front brake with less lever play. Other changes included all-new bodywork with flatter surfaces, new graphics, a revised radiator that is 6 percent larger, and softer suspension to match the stiffer frame. The 2026 model carries over mechanically unchanged, with the CRF250RWE Works Edition returning too.
Power comes from a 249cc liquid-cooled DOHC single with a big-bore, short-stroke layout, a 79.0mm bore and a 50.9mm stroke, which allows large valves and high revs. It uses a finger-follower rocker design, a single-pipe exhaust with a straighter intake and exhaust updates for throttle response, and a small engine oil scavenge pump. A handlebar-mounted Engine Mode Select Button lets the rider change the power delivery character. All five gearbox ratios were revised and strengthened, and HRC Launch Control has three operating levels.
The chassis is a lightweight aluminum twin-spar frame redesigned for 2025. The suspension is fully adjustable Showa, with a new larger-valved rear shock on a lightweight steel spring. Tires are Pirelli Scorpion MX32. Confirmed figures list a curb weight of about 234 lbs (106 kg) with all fluids, and the 2026 US MSRP was $8,399 plus a $600 destination charge. The CRF250RX off-road version received the same engine, suspension and chassis improvements.
