Sportster Iron 883 XL883N (2011): "Minimal Dark Custom Styling to the Edge"

Harley's own line on the Iron 883 is that it pushes minimal Dark Custom styling to the edge, with a V-twin beat and gritty, old-school garage features. It has a black powertrain, chopped fenders, a peanut fuel tank and black 13-spoke cast aluminum wheels, 19 inches at the front and 16 at the rear. The 2011 bike came with new paint schemes, including Chrome Yellow.

Power comes from the air-cooled 883cc Evolution V-twin, with a 76.2mm x 96.8mm bore and stroke and an 8.8-8.9:1 compression ratio, fed by Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. Torque is about 70-73 Nm (roughly 52-54 lb-ft) at 3,750 rpm. The gearbox is a 5-speed with a 34/57 chain primary and belt final drive. The exhaust is a chrome staggered shorty with dual mufflers.

The chassis is a mild-steel tubular frame with a 39mm fork (about 3.6 inches of travel) and coil-over preload-adjustable rear shocks (about 1.6 inches). Brakes are a single front disc (300mm) and a single rear disc (260mm). Harley specifies Michelin Scorcher 31 tires, a 100/90B19 front and a 150/80B16 rear.

Confirmed figures list a 31.1-degree rake with 117mm (4.6 inches) of trail, a 1,510mm wheelbase and 120mm of ground clearance. Unladen seat height is 735mm (28.9 inches). The tank holds 12.5 litres (3.3 gallons) and engine oil capacity is 2.65 litres. Weight is 251 kg (553 lbs) dry and 260 kg (573 lbs) in running order.
