Harley Davidson XL1200T Sportster SuperLow 2020 Service Manual

The SuperLow 1200T is the touring version of the SuperLow. Harley’s line is “turn a trip to the corner store into a cross-continent trek”, and it comes with a detachable windshield, lockable saddlebags and a two-up seat for all-day comfort. A low center of gravity and adjustable suspension help it handle city traffic and twisting highway miles with equal ease. The 4.5-gallon teardrop fuel tank gives you plenty of fuel for the long stretches between towns. The low seat is marketed as just 25.5 inches off the ground (705mm unladen), and with the narrow frame and narrow-nose seat it’s easy to maneuver through turns at any speed, from parking lot to interstate. The wheels are black and silver split 5-spoke cast aluminum, and the exhaust is chrome, staggered and shorty with dual mufflers.

Power comes from the air-cooled, rubber-mounted 1,202cc Evolution V-twin, with lightweight aluminum heads and cylinders to improve air-cooling efficiency, an 88.9mm bore, a 96.8mm stroke and a 10:1 compression ratio. Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection feeds it. Torque is 96 Nm (about 71 lb-ft) at about 3,500 rpm by the European EC 134/2014 method, and power is about 67 hp (50 kW) at 6,000 rpm. The gearbox is a 5-speed with a 38/57 chain primary drive and belt final drive, with an overall first gear of 9.004 and fifth of 3.4. Harley lists fuel economy of about 45 mpg.

The steel-framed chassis has a 39mm fork with about 4.1 inches of travel and twin rear shocks with about 2.1 inches of travel. Rake is 31.1 degrees with 145mm (5.7 inches) of trail, and the wheelbase is 1,500mm (59.1 inches). Tires are a 120/70ZR18 59W front and a 150/70ZR17 69W rear. Braking is a 300mm front disc and a 260mm rear disc, each with a two-piston caliper. Lean angles are about 25 degrees to the right and 26 degrees to the left.

The bike is 2,210mm (87 inches) long and 850mm wide, with 95mm (3.7 inches) of ground clearance. The tank holds 17 litres (4.5 gallons), and engine oil capacity is 2.6 litres (2.7 quarts) with the filter. Weight is 263 kg (580 lbs) as shipped and 274 kg (604 lbs) in running order.
