Harley Davidson XL1200T Sportster SuperLow 2018 Service Manual

The SuperLow 1200T is the touring version of the SuperLow, a Sportster that Harley describes as “the pavement doesn’t stop at the city limits.” It combines the nimble SuperLow chassis with the 1200cc Evolution engine, and adds a detachable windshield (about 14 inches), lockable saddlebags, a two-up seat with a narrow nose and mini floorboards with footrests set about 7cm higher than the 883’s. The seat height is just 705mm, and with the narrow frame it’s easy to maneuver through turns and down straights at any speed, from parking lot to interstate. It has a 4.5-gallon teardrop tank for long stretches between towns, and a chrome, staggered shorty exhaust with dual mufflers. The 2018 European prices were €12,695 in Vivid Black, €12,975 in a color and €13,275 in two-tone.

The engine is the air-cooled, rubber-mounted 1,202cc Evolution V-twin, with lightweight aluminum heads and cylinders to improve air-cooling efficiency, an 88.9mm bore, a 96.8mm stroke and a 10:1 compression ratio. Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection feeds it. Torque is 96 Nm (about 71 lb-ft) at 3,500 rpm by the European EC 134/2014 method, and power is about 67-68 hp at 6,000 rpm. The gearbox is a 5-speed with a multi-plate wet clutch and belt final drive. European fuel economy is about 5.2 L/100 km, with CO2 emissions of about 120 g/km.

The chassis has a 39mm telescopic fork and twin rear shocks, with a 31.1-degree rake and 145mm (5.7 inches) of trail on a 1,500mm wheelbase. Brakes are a single front disc with a two-piston floating caliper and a rear disc, and tires are a 120/70ZR18 59W at the front and a 150/70ZR17 69W at the rear. Lean angles are about 25 degrees to the right and 26 degrees to the left.

The bike is 2,210mm (87 inches) long and 850mm wide, with 95mm (3.7 inches) of ground clearance. The tank holds 17 litres (4.5 gallons), and engine oil capacity is 2.6 litres with the filter. Weight is 263 kg (580 lbs) as shipped and 274 kg (604 lbs) in running order.
