SuperLow 1200T: Low-Slung Sportster Meets Light-Touring Comfort
The 2014 Harley-Davidson XL1200T Sportster SuperLow 1200T was Harley’s answer for riders who wanted real touring range without climbing onto a full-size bagger. Built around the familiar low Sportster chassis but stretched just enough for the open road, it brought a 4.5-gallon tank, lockable hard saddlebags, an adjustable windshield, and a reduced-reach two-up seat that put the rider comfortably closer to the ground.
Power comes from the air-cooled Evolution 1200: 1,202cc of 45-degree V-twin, 88.9 mm bore by 96.8 mm stroke, and a 10.0:1 compression ratio. Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection feeds it, and the engine delivers a claimed 70.8 ft-lb of torque at 3,500 rpm through a five-speed gearbox and belt final drive. At 599 pounds in running order and just over 26 inches of laden seat height, the SuperLow 1200T was designed for riders roughly 5'1" to 5'7" who still wanted enough mid-range punch for highway miles.
Michelin Scorcher tires (120/70ZR-18 front, 150/70ZR-17 rear), a retuned front fork, and easily adjustable emulsion rear shocks helped the bike stay composed whether running solo or two-up with luggage. The result is a Sportster that can cover real distance while keeping that classic Evolution character and easy-to-manage proportions.
Low, practical, and built for longer days in the saddle, the SuperLow 1200T rewards careful maintenance. This factory service manual provides the exact procedures, torque values, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic information needed to keep a 2014 XL1200T running the way it was meant to.
