Pan America 1250: The Standard Trim, All the Engineering, Less of the Price Tag

Where the Special trim grabbed most of the launch headlines with its semi-active suspension and Adaptive Ride Height, the standard Pan America 1250 carries the same fundamental engineering breakthrough at a genuinely more accessible price point — RoadRunner's review called the platform's arrival "a decidedly bold gambit," and the base model delivers the core of that gamble without the premium electronics package.

Power comes from the same all-new Revolution Max 1250, a liquid-cooled 1,252cc 60-degree V-twin with DOHC, four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, and a 13.0:1 compression ratio, delivering a claimed 150 hp at 9,000 rpm and 94 lb-ft of torque at 6,750 rpm, run through a 6-speed gearbox with slip-and-assist wet clutch and chain final drive. As on the Special, the engine itself is a structural chassis component — the front frame, mid-frame, and tail section bolt directly to the powertrain rather than a traditional frame, meaningfully cutting weight while keeping the chassis genuinely rigid, mounted to a cast-aluminum swingarm that minimizes unsprung weight.

The standard model runs conventional, non-electronic suspension rather than the Special's semi-active Showa units, along with cast-aluminum wheels (19-inch front, 17-inch rear) developed jointly with Michelin, rather than the Special's optional spoked wheels. A 62.2-inch wheelbase balances genuine touring stability, especially loaded two-up, against the agile handling needed for off-road maneuverability. Standard equipment still includes Harley's full suite of traction and braking technology, matching power delivery to available grip during acceleration, deceleration, and braking. Wet weight comes in at a claimed 534 lbs — lighter than the Special thanks to the simpler suspension and wheel package. 2021-2023 pricing started at $17,319.
