Harley Davidson FXSTD Softail Deuce 2007 Service Manual

Harley said the Softail Deuce remains a styling leader by “getting low and long” for 2007. A lowered rear suspension with new shocks cuts seat height by nearly an inch, and a new extended rider footpeg and brake pedal let the rider stretch out from the low Badlander seat. The chromed FX front end has a chrome laced steel 21-inch wheel and a chrome low-rise, flat-track style handlebar. A 160mm rear tire on a silver solid-disc cast aluminum 17-inch wheel suits the slipped Deuce rear fender, and the stretched fuel tank has a full-length chrome console. The bike came in six solid and four two-tone colours, plus three two-tone custom options. The US price was $17,345 plus $290 destination.

2007 brought the new Twin Cam 96B, a rigid-mounted, counterbalanced, air-cooled 1,584cc V-twin with a 95.3mm bore, a 111.1mm stroke and a 9.2:1 compression ratio. Torque is about 92 lb-ft (124.7 Nm) at 3,000 rpm, and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection is standard. The powertrain is black powder-coated with chrome covers. The new 6-speed Cruise Drive gearbox has a belt final drive, replacing the 5-speed of 2006 and before. Harley lists fuel economy of about 53 mpg on the highway and 34 mpg in the city.

The chassis uses a 41.3mm telescopic fork with “beer can” covers and hidden horizontal rear shocks. Brakes are a single 292mm disc at each end, with a four-piston caliper front and rear, and tires are an MH90-21 front and a 160/70B17 rear. Confirmed figures list a 32-degree rake, 5.0 inches of trail, a 95.4-inch length, a 66.6-inch wheelbase and 4.8 inches of ground clearance. Seat height is about 25 inches, dry weight is about 663 lbs and wet weight about 682 lbs.
