Softail Custom FXSTC (2007): Laid-Back Chopper Style with Ape Hangers, a 200mm Rear Tire and the New Twin Cam 96B

Harley pitched the 2007 Softail Custom as the ultimate ride for those who want to kick back with their feet stretched out, solo or with a passenger, with chopper-inspired style and a two-up seat and backrest. It had a new wide 200mm rear tire under a wide, sculpted bobtail fender, a new chrome button-tufted two-up seat with a chrome backrest, and a new profile ape hanger handlebar on bare-knuckle risers. A traditional Fat Bob tank carries custom silkscreen graphics and a custom-sewn leather strap, and the bike has a new front fork slider cover and chrome bullet headlamp. The wheels are a chrome laced steel 21-inch front and a solid-disc 17-inch rear. Colours included Vivid Black, Black Cherry Pearl/Pewter Pearl, Fire Red Pearl/Black Pearl, Deep Cobalt Pearl/Pewter Pearl, Jake Blue Sunglo/Elwood Blue Sunglo, Burgundy/Crème and Gold Pearl and Dark Green Envy Pearl/Light Green Envy Pearl. The US price was $16,895 plus $290 destination.

The Twin Cam 96B is a rigid-mounted, counterbalanced, air-cooled 1,584cc V-twin with a 95.3mm bore and a 111.3mm stroke and a 9.2:1 compression ratio. The powertrain is chrome-detailed, and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection is standard. Torque is about 123 Nm (about 91 lb-ft) at 3,000 rpm. The new 6-speed Cruise Drive gearbox lets the bike glide down the highway at a more relaxed engine speed than ever, and final drive is by belt. Harley lists fuel economy of about 53 mpg on the highway and 34 mpg in the city.

Confirmed figures list an overall height of about 51.7 inches, a laden seat height of about 26.4 inches and a dry weight of about 672 lbs (305 kg).
