Harley Davidson FXSTB Softail Night Train 2007 Service Manual

Harley called the road “radical” for the 2007 Night Train. It rolled on a wide 200mm rear tire for the first time, on a black slotted cast aluminum disc wheel with a color-matched belt sprocket, under a bobtail fender. The bike has an all-black powertrain, with wrinkle-black trim on the engine covers, air cleaner, oil tank and rear fender supports, and a black console on the tank. The raked FX front end with drag bars sits over a narrow 21-inch chrome laced steel front wheel, with a low-slung Badlander seat. New for 2007 were an extended rider footpeg and brake pedal, so the rider can stretch out further. Chrome aluminum profile laced front and forged polished aluminum rear wheels were available as options, and the bike came in six solid colors, including three denim paint choices. The US price was $15,895 plus $290 destination, and a lot of magazines called it a great starting point for customizing, because the blacked-out look is already done.

2007 was the year the Softail line moved to the Twin Cam 96B. This is an air-cooled, rigid-mounted, counterbalanced 1,584cc V-twin with a 95.3mm bore and a 111.1mm stroke and a 9.2:1 compression ratio. It makes about 92 lb-ft (about 124 Nm) of torque at 3,000 rpm. It’s fed by Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection as standard, and the gearbox is a new 6-speed Cruise Drive with belt final drive. Harley lists fuel economy of about 53 mpg on the highway and 34 mpg in the city.

Hardtail styling hides twin horizontal rear shocks under the frame, and the front has a 41.3mm telescopic fork. Confirmed figures list a 25.2-inch laden seat height, a 66.9-inch wheelbase, a 44-inch height and a dry weight of about 656 lbs, or about 682 lbs wet.
