Harley Davidson FXSTB FXSTBI Softail Night Train 2006 Service Manual

For 2006 Harley said a new 200mm rear tire, a black slotted cast aluminum disc rear wheel with a color-matched belt sprocket and a wider bobtail fender have the already menacing Night Train looking tougher than ever. In Harley’s words, the Night Train is notorious for causing a stir. It has a black powder-coated engine with wrinkle-black trim on the covers, air cleaner, oil tank and rear fender supports, staggered chrome pipes and a raked FX front end with drag bars on six-inch risers. The front wheel is a laced 21-inch (chrome aluminum profile laced was an option), and a forged polished aluminum disc rear wheel was also optional. It came in several colors, including denim paints.

Power comes from the rigid-mounted, counterbalanced Twin Cam 88B, an air-cooled 1,450cc V-twin with an 8.9:1 compression ratio. The FXSTBI had fuel injection, while the FXSTB used a carburetor. The gearbox is a 5-speed, with belt final drive.

Brakes are four-piston calipers front and rear, on 11.5-inch rotors. Tires are a Dunlop D402F MH90-21 front and a 200/55R17 rear (the 2005 bike had a 150/80B16 rear), and some spec sheets still list the old rear size, so check the rear wheel on your bike. Confirmed figures list a dry weight of about 651 lbs, a weight in running order of about 682 lbs (306 kg) and a gross vehicle weight rating of 1,125 lbs.
