Harley Davidson FXST FXSTI Softail Standard 2006 Service Manual

For 2006 the Softail Standard got a new wide bobtail fender covering a fat 200mm rear tire on a new silver slotted cast aluminum disc wheel, which gave it an imposing new attitude. Harley describes a long, raked custom look that inspires customization among Softail Standard owners. It has raked FX forks, a clear-lens reflector-optics headlight, a silver powder-coated engine, a black horseshoe oil tank, a Badlander seat, a low-rise handlebar and chrome twin tapered mufflers, on a laced 21-inch front wheel with a Dunlop D402F MH90-21 tire. A chrome aluminum profile laced front wheel and a forged polished aluminum disc rear wheel were offered as factory options.

Power comes from the rigid-mounted, counterbalanced Twin Cam 88B, an air-cooled 1,450cc V-twin. The FXSTI has fuel injection, and the FXST is the carbureted designation. The gearbox is a 5-speed with belt final drive, and the engine makes about 63 hp.

Brakes are a front disc with a single-piston caliper and a four-piston rear caliper on an 11.5-inch rotor. Confirmed figures list a wheelbase of about 1,695mm, a seat height of about 640-663mm (25-26 inches), a 5-gallon tank and a gross vehicle weight rating of 1,125 lbs. Dry weight is about 651-671 lbs and weight in running order is about 682-694 lbs, depending on the source.
