Ultimate Motorcycling's own review confirms exactly what defines this bike's stance: "with the beefy 49mm forks kicked out at a 37-degree angle, a 21-inch wheel up front, a fat 240 rear tire, and limited cornering clearance, the 2017 Harley-Davidson Softail Breakout is serious about its straight line intentions. With a High Output Twin Cam 103B motor, the Breakout is a credible muscle bike on city streets."

Power comes from the High Output Twin Cam 103B, a 1,690cc (103.13 cu.in) air-cooled V-twin, delivering a claimed 99.6 lb-ft of torque, run through a 6-speed transmission with belt final drive. Dennis Kirk's own confirmed spec sheet lists a 240/40VR-18 rear tire and 130/60HB-21 front tire, a 49mm fork, and a 132-tooth, 24mm-wide drive belt.

Ultimate Motorcycling's own review confirms genuine muscle-bike styling throughout: drag bars, forward controls, and chopped fenders "add to the purposeful appearance," while Harley still made accommodations for a passenger despite the aggressive stance. Patriot Harley's own confirmed dimensions list a 95.7-inch length, 679 lbs dry weight, and a 5.0-gallon fuel tank.

This exact 2017 model year represents the final year of this Twin Cam-powered generation on the old dual-shock Softail platform — the Breakout was discontinued for 2018 and 2019 before returning as the reworked FXBR, built on Harley's redesigned single-shock Softail chassis with the Milwaukee-Eight 107/114 engine.
