Low Rider S (2024): Unchanged Muscle, New Colors, Third-Generation Confidence

The Low Rider S lineage traces back to the original FXS Low Rider's 1977 debut — a bike that outsold every other model in Harley's lineup that year, including the Super Glide. Since its 2016 return and subsequent move to the Softail platform, the S has stayed a fan favorite, and the 2024 model leans into that reputation rather than chasing changes for their own sake: outside of new paint options, this is essentially the same bike as the year before.

The Milwaukee-Eight 117 carries over unchanged, delivering a claimed 103 hp at 4,750 rpm and 125 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm — genuinely strong numbers that let the Low Rider S hit 60 mph in around four seconds and reach a claimed top speed of 120 mph, aggressive territory for a cruiser. Displacing 1,923cc via a 4.1 in. bore and 4.5 in. stroke with a 10.2:1 compression ratio, the engine breathes through a Heavy Breather intake and 2-into-2 offset shotgun pipes, delivered through electronic sequential port fuel injection.

The Softail chassis pairs with a 43mm inverted fork, bronze-finished 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels, dual 300mm front discs and a single 292mm rear disc, and a shock hidden beneath the seat to preserve the hardtail look. Michelin Scorcher 31 tires ground the substantial power output. 2024 colors expanded to four options: Billiard Gray, Vivid Black, Red Rock, and Sharkskin Blue. Dimensions run 93.1 in. long with a 28-degree rake and 63.6 in. wheelbase, shipping at 650 lbs (679 lbs in running order), with a 5-gallon tank.
