FXDR 114 (2019): "A Drag Racer Crossed With a Fighter Jet"

Introduced fresh for 2019 as the 10th model built on the reinvented Softail platform, Harley pitched the FXDR 114 as effectively replacing the discontinued V-Rod's power-cruiser role — and the styling doesn't shy away from the comparison. Harley's own team described it as "a drag racer crossed with a fighter jet," and Ultimate Motorcycling's launch coverage backed that up: at 28.5 inches tall with a massive 240mm rear tire, it looks ready to pounce at every stoplight.

The Milwaukee-Eight 114 delivers a claimed 119 lb-ft of torque at just 3,500 rpm — the most potent engine in the entire Softail lineup that year — through a rigidly mounted, air/oil-cooled configuration pulling to a 5,500 rpm redline. Mass centralization borrowed directly from Buell engineering philosophy put an aluminum subframe and swingarm at the back, with a composite tail section and fenders helping the FXDR hit a claimed 668 lbs curb weight — genuinely light for a 114-powered cruiser, though reviewers noted it came in only about 4 lbs lighter than the Breakout it was based on.

An inverted, race-style single-cartridge front fork with a triple-rate spring and a remote preload-adjustable rear shock deliver genuinely sporting handling, backed by dual 300mm front discs with 4-piston calipers. With 32.6-32.8 degrees of lean angle, the FXDR offers more cornering clearance than any other Softail — Rider Magazine noted the first thing to touch down in a corner is the rider's boot heels, not hard parts. A high-volume forward-facing airbox and 2-into-1 exhaust, inspired by Screamin' Eagle NHRA drag bikes, round out the aggressive styling package. Front and rear tires run 120mm and 240mm Michelin Scorcher 11s.
