Softail Rocker C FXCWC (2010): A Helical-Cut Fifth Gear on Harley's Chopper-Style Softail

Harley says the Rocker C delivers custom-chopper style with Harley quality and innovation. It has a tire-hugging Rockertail rear section, a Trick seat with a concealed passenger pillion and LED combination stop/turn/tail lights. The 2010 model adds a new helical-cut fifth gear for improved transmission sound.

Power comes from the rigid-mounted, counter-balanced Twin Cam 96B, an air-cooled 1,584cc V-twin with pushrod-operated overhead valves and hydraulic self-adjusting lifters. It has a 3.75 x 4.38 inch (95.25 x 111.25mm) bore and stroke and a 9.2:1 compression ratio, fed by Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection with single-fire, map-controlled ignition. Torque is about 125 Nm (92 lb-ft) at 3,000 rpm. The gearbox is a 6-speed Cruise Drive with a 9-plate wet clutch and belt final drive. The powertrain is black powder-coated with chrome covers, and the exhaust is a chrome staggered shorty with dual mufflers.

Equipment includes polished, cast aluminum tapered five-spoke wheels, a finned cast-aluminum oil tank, forward foot controls, a chrome adjustable internally wired V-bar handlebar in a two-piece 5-inch curved riser and a console-mounted speed shop-style speedometer. Dennis Kirk lists a 49mm fork, a 90/90HR-19 front tire, a 240/40VR-18 rear, a 133-tooth 20mm drive belt on 32/66 pulleys and an H300614 oil filter. Brakes are a single 292mm disc at each wheel, with a four-piston front caliper and a two-piston rear.

Confirmed dimensions list a 95.1-inch (2,415mm) length, a 69.3-inch (1,760mm) wheelbase, a 36-degree rake with 6.2 inches of trail and 5.1 inches of ground clearance. Seat height is about 27.6 inches. The tank holds 4.9 gallons. Dry weight is about 677-686 lbs, and suspension travel is 127mm (5.0 inches) at the front and a short 79-86mm at the rear. A Smart Security System with a hands-free fob was optional.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2010 Softail Rocker C FXCWC running the way it was built to.
