Softail Rocker C FXCWC (2009): A Trick Two-in-One Seat and the Chrome-Laden Version of the Rocker

Harley sold the Rocker C as the chrome-laden version of the Rocker, and the feature that set it apart was an industry-first "Trick" seat design. It's a solo-style saddle that hides a passenger pillion, so the bike can switch from solo to two-up. The rest of the look is chopper-style: a Rockertail rear section, a stretched fuel tank with a recessed medallion, a V-bar handlebar on five-inch curved risers and a console-mounted speedometer. A color-matched frame, swingarm and horseshoe oil tank, chrome fork lowers and integrated LED rear turn signals and tail/brake lamps complete it, and deluxe pinstripe flames came standard. 2009 colours were Vivid Black, Flame Blue Pearl and Crimson Red Sunglo.

Power comes from the rigid-mounted, counter-balanced Twin Cam 96B, an air-cooled 1,584cc V-twin with pushrod-operated overhead valves and hydraulic self-adjusting lifters. It has a 95.3 x 111.1mm bore and stroke and a 9.2:1 compression ratio, fed by Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. Claimed torque is roughly 117-125 Nm (86-92 lb-ft), depending on the source. The gearbox is a 6-speed Cruise Drive with a 9-plate wet clutch, chain primary and belt final drive. The engine is black powder-coated with chrome covers, and the exhaust is a chrome staggered shorty with dual mufflers.

The chassis is a mild-steel tubular frame with a 49mm telescopic fork (5.0 inches of travel) and a hidden horizontal coil-over rear shock with a short 3.1 inches. Brakes are a single 292mm disc at each wheel, with a four-piston front caliper and a two-piston rear. The wheels are polished five-spoke cast aluminum, 19 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. Tires are a 90/90-19 front and a very wide 240/40R18 rear.

Confirmed dimensions list a 95-inch length, a 69.2-inch wheelbase, a 36-degree rake with 6.2 inches of trail and 5.1 inches of ground clearance. Seat height is about 27.5 inches unladen. The tank holds 5 gallons with a warning light at about 1 gallon, and dry weight is about 686 lbs. A Smart Security System was optional. The US price started at $19,499.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2009 Softail Rocker C FXCWC running the way it was built to.
