Breakout 117 FXBR (2023): Back in North America After a Two-Year Hiatus, Marking the Model's 10th Anniversary

Roadrunner's own coverage confirms the genuine backstory: after not selling in North America since 2020, the Breakout returned for 2023 with more grunt than ever, marking the model's tenth production anniversary — while continuing to gain popularity in the UK and Australia, where it's become that market's highest-selling Harley model.

Power comes from the Milwaukee-Eight 117, a 1,923cc air-cooled V-twin with a 4.075-inch bore and 4.5-inch stroke, delivering a claimed 102 hp and 124.6 lb-ft of torque — both up from the previous 107ci engine's 86 hp and 107 lb-ft — run through a 6-speed transmission and 2-into-2 offset shotgun exhaust. MotoFomo's own confirmed history notes this puts the Breakout on the same displacement engine as Harley's biggest CVO models for the first time.

St. Charles Harley's own confirmed spec sheet lists an improvised Softail chassis reducing weight without sacrificing stiffness while keeping the classic hardtail look, plus a reshaped seat to accommodate a returning 5-gallon fuel tank — last seen on Twin Cam-era Breakouts. Liberty Harley's own confirmed dimensions list a 66.7-inch wheelbase, 34-degree rake, and a genuinely low 26.2-inch unladen seat height, riding on 130/60B21 front and 240/40R18 rear tires — new 26-spoke cast aluminum wheels in gloss black with machined details, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear.

Bike Review's own testing found this "the most Harley-Davidson feeling bike" in the current lineup, averaging 5.6L/100km despite the nearly 2-litre engine. MCN's own review confirms 2023 brought genuinely heavier chrome treatment than the drag-bike-inspired 2018 original — fender brackets, side covers, muffler shields, turn signals, mirrors, and the distinctive Heavy Breather intake all chromed — across four colorways: Baja Orange, Atlas Silver, Black Denim, and Vivid Black.

This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2023 Breakout 117 FXBR running the way it was built to.
