Harley’s line for the 2018 Road Glide Special is “blacked-out and loaded with premium features. Fire up the thrill-inducing Milwaukee-Eight 107 V-twin and you’re in for one hell of a ride.” It’s blacked out from the front forks to the tips of the exhaust for an aggressive, modern look, and it rides on all-new blacked-out Talon cast aluminum wheels, a 19-inch front and an 18-inch rear, with spokes that run all the way to the edge of the rim. It has the frame-mounted shark-nose fairing, stretched saddlebags, a painted inner fairing and the Boom! Box 6.5GT touchscreen infotainment system with 25 watts per channel and a 6.5-inch speaker. The 2018 US price was $26,299 plus $435 destination.

The engine is the all-black Milwaukee-Eight 107, a 1,746cc air/oil-cooled V-twin with four valves per cylinder, a 100.1mm bore, a 111.3mm stroke and a 10:1 compression ratio. Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection feeds it, and Harley says each Milwaukee-Eight makes 10 percent more torque than the engine it replaced. Torque is 111 lb-ft (150 Nm) at 3,250 rpm, power is about 89 hp at 5,450 rpm, and Harley lists fuel economy of about 45 mpg. The exhaust is a black 2-1-2 dual system with tapered mufflers, and the gearbox is a 6-speed with a 34/46 chain primary drive and a 32/68 belt final drive.

The front suspension is a 49mm fork. Brakes are dual front discs and a single rear disc with four-piston calipers and ABS, and tires are a Dunlop Multi-Tread 130/60B19 61H at the front and a 180/55B18 80H at the rear. Rake is 26 degrees with 6.8 inches (173mm) of trail on a 64-inch (1,625mm) wheelbase, with lean angles of about 32 degrees to the right and 31 to the left. The bike is 95.7 inches (2,430mm) long, with 5.5 inches (140mm) of ground clearance. Seat height is 25.9 inches laden and 27.4 inches (695mm) unladen.

The tank holds 6 gallons (22.7 litres), engine oil capacity is 5.2 quarts (4.9 litres) with the filter, and the saddlebags hold about 2.7 cubic feet. The Road Glide Special weighs 820 lbs (372 kg) as shipped and 855 lbs (388 kg) in running order.
