Road Glide FLTRX (2023): The “Long-Distance Benchmark,” Last Year of the Previous-Generation Road Glide
Harley’s own pitch for the 2023 Road Glide is that it’s the benchmark for long-distance touring bikes. It runs mile after mile with ease, behind the iconic frame-mounted Sharknose fairing, which sits on the frame rather than the handlebars and so stays fixed as you steer. It has an upright riding position, floorboards, a passenger seat, one-touch hard saddlebags, dual Daymaker LED headlamps and the Boom! Box infotainment system. Colours were Vivid Black, Redline Red and Atlas Silver Metallic, and it started at $21,999. It’s the first Road Glide in the lineup, ahead of the Special and the ST.
Power comes from the Milwaukee-Eight 107, an air-cooled 1,745cc V-twin with four valves per cylinder, giving a powerful, smooth-running engine with crisp throttle response and a pure rumble. Output is about 92 hp, and the gearbox is a 6-speed with belt final drive. The Special has the Milwaukee-Eight 114, and the ST has the 117, so engine parts differ across the Road Glide range.
Brakes are Reflex linked Brembo units with ABS, optional on some markets, and the optional Reflex rider-safety package adds cornering-sensitive technology. Harley’s figures list a 95.7-inch length and a 51.6-inch height. Seat height is 25.9 inches laden and 27.4 inches unladen. Weight is 820 lbs as shipped and 855 lbs in running order.
This factory service manual covers the procedures, torque specs, and diagrams needed to keep a 2023 Road Glide FLTRX running the way it was built to.
