Road Glide FLTR/FLTRI (2003): "One Look at the Profile Tells You This One's Different"

Harley's own copy makes the point straight away: this bike's profile is different from anything else in the range. Up front sits the frame-mounted shark-nose fairing with cockpit-style instrumentation, twin headlights and a swept-back windshield, styling Harley called "nothing sleeker on the road." Built on the same frame and engine as the rest of the Touring line, the Road Glide is the only Harley with that fairing mounted to the frame rather than the fork, so the fairing doesn't turn with the handlebars.

Power comes from the vibration-isolated, black-and-chrome Twin Cam 88, a 1,449cc air-cooled V-twin with a 95.3 x 101.6mm bore and stroke, offered with a carburetor as the FLTR or Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection as the FLTRI, feeding a 5-speed transmission with belt final drive.

Standard equipment includes fiberglass saddlebags and King Tour-Pak, a plush seat and passenger backrest, full instrumentation, a 40-watt per channel stereo, triple-disc brakes and air-adjustable rear touring suspension. Confirmed factory dimensions list a 97.5-inch overall length, a 27.3-inch laden seat height (30.7 inches unladen), and 5.1 inches of ground clearance. 2003 was Harley's 100th anniversary, so anniversary paint and badging were offered on this model alongside the standard colors.
