CVO Softail Convertible FLSTSE2 (2011): "A Split Personality" That Changes From Tourer to Solo Custom in Minutes

Harley described the CVO Softail Convertible as a limited-production custom, with production capped at about 2,400 units at its York, Pennsylvania plant. Its selling point is that it can be set up for all-day touring, two-up cruising or solo profiling by adding or detaching parts without tools. With the compact fairing, smoked windshield, leather-covered sealed saddlebags and wide pillion with padded backrest fitted, it's a weekend tourer. Take them off and it becomes an aggressive solo-saddle custom.

Power comes from the rigid-mounted, counter-balanced Twin Cam 110B, an air-cooled 1,802cc V-twin with a 4.0 x 4.38 inch bore and stroke, a 9.15:1 compression ratio, and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. It makes a claimed 110 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm through a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission with belt final drive.

The 2011 CVO update added electronic throttle control with standard cruise control and standard ABS. The detachable fairing carries an integrated audio system with 3.5-inch two-way speakers, a 20W-per-channel amplifier and an 8GB iPod Nano. There is also a chrome 1.25-inch welded mini-ape handlebar and a keyless ignition with a backlit CVO tank-console medallion. Instruments are a digital speedometer and an analog tachometer with a gray satin aluminum face.

Confirmed figures list a 94.9-inch overall length, a 24.4-inch laden seat height (26.2 inches unladen), 4.3 inches of ground clearance, a 32-degree rake with 5.8 inches of trail, and a 64.2-inch wheelbase. It carries 5 gallons of fuel and about 3 quarts of oil, and weighs 754 lbs dry and 781 lbs ready to ride. US pricing was $29,599.
