Harley says the FLSTSC Springer Classic digs deeply into Harley-Davidson history, with the retro look of a classic Springer front end. It has deep black powder-coated front forks with chrome shocks and springs, and the fuel tank trim, metal stamped emblem and stamped oil tank patent label are reminiscent of the Knucklehead era. A tombstone taillight, a fender-mounted running light, crossover chrome dual exhausts that ride low at the back and newly packaged directional signals on a beach-style handlebar complete the look. The rear fender is exposed, and the passenger pillion removes easily for solo or two-up seating. It rolls on chrome laced steel 16-inch wheels, with chrome profile laced aluminum as an option. It came in four solid and two two-tone paint schemes, plus three two-tone custom options. The US price was $17,545.

2007 brought the new Twin Cam 96B, a rigid-mounted, counterbalanced, air-cooled 1,584cc V-twin with a 95.2mm bore and a 111.2mm stroke. It’s black powder-coated with chrome covers, and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection is standard. Torque is about 88-92 lb-ft (about 120-125 Nm) at 2,750-3,000 rpm, depending on the source. A new 6-speed Cruise Drive gearbox with belt final drive replaced the 5-speed.

Hardtail styling hides twin horizontal rear shocks under the frame, and the front end is the black Springer leading-link fork. Confirmed figures list a height of about 44.1 inches, a laden seat height of about 25.9 inches, a wheelbase of about 64.5 inches, a dry weight of about 708 lbs, a wet weight of about 741 lbs (337 kg) and a 5-gallon tank.
