Softail Deluxe FLSTN (2011): The Last Deluxe on the 96, With ABS Now Offered Through a New Security Package

The 2011 Deluxe is a rolling summary of classic American cruiser style: a clean front light bar, tombstone taillight, chrome grab rail and luggage rack, laced wheels and wide whitewall tires, and the Softail's horseshoe oil tank. The big news for the model year was a new Security Package option, which added anti-lock brakes to a bike that had never offered them.

Power comes from the rigid-mounted, counter-balanced Twin Cam 96B, an air-cooled 1,584cc V-twin with pushrod-operated overhead valves, hydraulic self-adjusting lifters, and Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. It uses a 3.75 x 4.38 inch bore and stroke and makes a claimed 127 Nm (93.7 lb-ft) of torque at 3,000 rpm. Drive runs through a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission with belt final drive, and the gear ratios run from 9.311 in first to 2.79 in sixth.

The frame is a mild-steel tubular design with a rectangular-section backbone, a 41.3mm telescopic fork with chrome dust covers, and a hidden, horizontally mounted coil-over shock that keeps the classic hardtail look. Both wheels carry a single 292mm disc. Optional Chrome Profile Laced Aluminum wheels were available.

Confirmed figures list a 2,400mm overall length, a 25.9-inch seat height at its lowest setting, 113mm of ground clearance, and an 18.9-litre (5-gallon) fuel tank. Oil capacity is 3.3 litres, dry weight is about 313kg, and ready-to-ride weight is 330kg.

This 1,584cc Twin Cam 96B configuration is the last year of the Deluxe on the smaller engine. For 2012 Harley moved the model to the Twin Cam 103B.
