Heritage Softail Classic FLSTC (2014): Retro Looks with the Twin Cam 103B and Six-Speed Cruise Drive

Harley’s 2014 copy says the Heritage Softail Classic blends retro looks with today’s technology for modern touring capabilities. The classic styling includes leather studded saddlebags, whitewall tires, full fenders, a removable windshield and full-length rider floorboards with rubber vibration isolation. It has the classic lines of a vintage hardtail frame, with the horizontal rear shocks hidden under the bike, and tall handlebars that give a comfortable riding position. ABS was an option, and the big fuel tank gives mile after mile of range. A popular colour was Big Blue Pearl over Vivid Black.

Power comes from the air-cooled Twin Cam 103B, a counterbalanced 1,690cc V-twin, which Harley says has more power for passing, hill-climbing and carrying a passenger and luggage. It’s fed by fly-by-wire electronic fuel injection, and the gearbox is a six-speed Cruise Drive with belt final drive.

The parts data lists a 41mm fork, an MT90HB-16 front tire and a 150/80HB-16 rear, a 133-tooth, 24mm belt on 32/66 pulleys, an 82-link 428 chain primary, an RA8HC spark plug, an H30292 oil filter and a YTX20HL-BS battery. Lighting uses an H4 headlight bulb and a 3157 taillight bulb.

Confirmed figures list a 94.7-inch length, a dry weight of about 730 lbs and a 5-gallon tank.
