Heritage Softail Classic 1993-1994: Duo-Glide Style, Two Model Years After the FLSTN Made Headlines

The FLSTC Heritage Classic sat alongside its more attention-grabbing cousin, the Cow Glide-nicknamed FLSTN, throughout this pair of model years — while the Nostalgia edition captured 90th-anniversary headlines with its bovine seat trim, the FLSTC quietly continued doing what it had done since debuting in 1986: wear the styling of a 1958 FLH Duo Glide while riding on a genuinely modern Softail chassis.

Power comes from the 80-cubic-inch (1,337cc) air-cooled Evolution V-twin, 45-degree with 2 valves per cylinder, an 8.5:1 compression ratio, and dry-sump lubrication, fed by a 38mm Keihin carburetor. Output is a claimed 67 hp at 6,000 rpm with roughly 71.5 lb-ft of torque at 2,350 rpm, delivered through a 5-speed transmission with a cable-operated dry multi-plate clutch and belt final drive. The steel double-cradle frame runs telescopic front forks paired with the Softail's hidden dual-shock rear suspension, keeping the hardtail illusion intact.

Styling stayed true to the touring-cruiser hybrid formula: full-coverage fenders, a 16-inch front wheel (unlike the leaner FX-badged Softails sharing the platform), a passenger-friendly two-up seat, and deeply chromed detailing throughout. Front and rear tires match at 140/90-16, with single 292mm discs handling braking at both ends. Seat height sits around 26.5 inches, with dry weight close to 699 lbs and a 4.2-gallon fuel tank.
