Heritage Softail Classic FLSTC/FLSTCI (2006): Early-Dresser Touring Style on the Twin Cam 88B

Harley designed the 2006 Heritage Softail Classic to offer comfortable touring accommodations with early dresser styling. It has ample 1950s-style leather saddlebags, studded-leather trim, a detachable king-size Lexan windshield, chrome touring handlebars and a comfortable passenger position with a backrest. Laced wheels with blackwall tires, chrome passing lamps and a full-skirted FL front fender over a fat touring front tire complete the classic look. Optional chrome profile laced aluminum wheels were available. The engine is a wrinkle-black and chrome Twin Cam 88B, and the hidden rear suspension gives about 4 inches of travel. The 2006 US price was $17,395 plus $275 destination.

Power comes from a rigid-mounted, counterbalanced Twin Cam 88B, an air-cooled 1,450cc (88 cubic inch) V-twin with dual counterbalancers that take care of all but the good vibrations. The FLSTCI has fuel injection, and the FLSTC is the carbureted designation. The gearbox is a 5-speed with belt final drive.

The wheels are 16-inch steel laced front and rear. Confirmed figures list a dry weight of about 719 lbs, a gross vehicle weight rating of 1,160 lbs and a seat height of about 25.5 inches. Harley lists fuel economy of about 4.9 L/100 km on the highway and 5.7 L/100 km in the city.
